Cervical Screening Training

Theory, Practice, Update

Cervical Screening Training has been established in the North East since 2000. The service is commissioned and funded by Health Education North East and provides Cervical Screening Mentors to oversee the clinical element of training for nurses new to cervical screening and provide support and advice for established sample takers. The funding also provides update training for established nurse sample takers working in the North East region. The NHS Cervical Screening Programme guidelines for sample takers recommend three yearly update training; therefore doctors are encouraged to attend.

We are based in New Croft Centre, Market Street East, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 6ND. We provide update training at various venues across the region. To get in touch with us, please visit our Contact Us section.

In 2014 we added contraception and sexual health training for nurses to our portfolio. This is provided through  two day’s of theory for updating established nurses delivering contraception and sexual health. At the beginning of 2015 a pilot course for nurses new to contraception and sexual health was delivered and it is hoped that this will become an established course.
